Traffic calming work continues

New traffic calming curbs are now in place in Takhini and Riverdale on Range Road, Nisutlin Drive, and Alsek Road.

The curbs are designed to reduce vehicle speeds where there are a high volume of pedestrian crossings and improve road safety for active transportation users.

This is one of several traffic calming initiatives underway in Whitehorse this summer.

Also set to be installed in the coming weeks are:

• Speed humps on Keewenaw Drive in Copper Ridge and Klondike Road in Riverdale.
• Line painting and road markings to encourage drivers to slow down and watch for pedestrians in country residential neighbourhoods.
• Temporary seasonal bollards on 12^th Avenue, Elm Street, Maple Street and Oak Street in Porter Creek; playground zones on North Star Drive in Copper Ridge; and playground zones on Rainbow Road in Crestview.

Speed feedback signs will also be placed at targeted locations and rotated around the city.

As the City continues its efforts to improve road safety and plan for the future, residents are invited to submit their requests for 2027 traffic calming measures by Wednesday, September 30 using our interactive request tool.
