Hillcrest Neighbourhood Plan
On January 13th, 2014, City Council adopted the Hillcrest Neighbourhood Plan. The Plan is the result of a comprehensive public consultation process that has included three workshop events, an open house, and a one-month comment period on the Draft Plan. The first steps for implementing the Plan have already occurred, which included amending neighbourhood zoning and reducing the speed limit from 50 km/hr to 40 km/hr (with the exception of the playground area on Park Lane that remains 30 km/hr). Stay tuned for updates on future implementation items.
Planning Process
The planning process for developing the Master Plan was designed to be quick but comprehensive, and involved many opportunities for public input. The process included stakeholder group meetings, a Community Walk, BBQ, and a design charrette. In total, over 300 people participated in this process! The Master Plan includes a number of action items that are to be implemented in order to achieve the stated 20 year vision of the Plan.
