The City presented a cheque for $6,680 and food donations worth $5,320 for a total of $12,000 to two local organizations.
The contributions to the Food Bank Society of the Yukon and Kaushee’s Place come from the annual Food For Fines campaign.
Anyone with a parking ticket had the option of donating cash or food of equal value to pay the fine. This year’s campaign ran from November 26 to December 10, marking the 19th year the City has hosted this important fundraiser.
Approximately $124,000 has been raised in cash and food donations through the Food For Fines campaign over the years.
