Congratulations to the Yukon’s Member of Parliament

Mayor Kirk Cameron has issued the following statement:

“Congratulations to Brendan Hanley on being re-elected as the Yukon’s Member of Parliament.

I would also like to thank all the candidates who put their names forward to represent our territory in Parliament, and all Yukoners who participated in this election.

The Yukon needs a strong voice in Ottawa as our country navigates increasing economic threats and geopolitical uncertainty in addition to increasing costs and an acute lack of housing.

Whitehorse is one of the fastest growing cities in Canada, and housing, affordability and community safety are all top of mind for our citizens. We are also facing challenges accommodating rapid population growth while also managing aging infrastructure that is increasingly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. It is important that the City of Whitehorse work in close partnership with all levels of government to address these challenges and support our growing community.

During his previous term in office, MP Hanley was effective at representing the needs of Yukoners and helping to secure funding for housing and infrastructure projects in Whitehorse.

I look forward to continuing to work with MP Hanley to advocate for Whitehorse’s priorities and ensure we can continue to grow in a sustainable manner that meets the needs of our citizens.”
