WHITEHORSE – Whitehorse Mayor Kirk Cameron has issued the following statement:
“On behalf of City Council, I’m pleased to welcome everyone to Whitehorse for the 2026 Arctic Winter Games.
Whitehorse is excited to host these Games and showcase the skills, talent, and dedication of youth from across the circumpolar North.
The City of Whitehorse is proud to support these games through funding and in-kind contributions. In partnership with the 2026 Arctic Winter Games Host Society, our staff have worked hard to prepare for the Games and get our world-class recreation facilities ready for the North’s best athletes to compete.
This is the seventh time Whitehorse is hosting the Arctic Winter Games, and they would not be possible without the many volunteers throughout our community that contribute their time and energy to make it an unforgettable experience. On behalf of the City, thank you to all the volunteers that are involved in this year’s Games. I also want to thank the 2026 Arctic Winter Games Host Society for its tremendous work leading up to the Games. Whitehorse is well known for its northern hospitality, and it will be on full display throughout the Games to enrich the experience of all participants.
The Games are free for spectators, and I encourage all residents to enjoy the many sports and cultural events that will be taking place throughout the week. Public Transit is also free for all accredited Games participants – just show your accreditation badge and hop on board.
Good luck to all the participants and thank you to all those involved.”
