The City is continuing to implement new neighbourhood traffic calming measures in 2026. Installation work will begin in June.
New permanent seasonal measures include flexible bollards to improve road safety in Porter Creek, Copper Ridge and Crestview.

The bollards will be removed before the first snowfall, with anchors remaining in place for reinstallation in the spring of 2027.
Year-round measures include:
The 2026 locations were identified by analyzing areas of concern highlighted in the Transportation Master Plan, the Speed Limit Reduction Report and by residents. Speed and traffic data were collected to validate these concerns and to help determine the most appropriate calming measures for each location.
Additionally, speed feedback signs will be placed at targeted locations and rotated throughout the community. Locations will include but are not limited to Hillcrest Drive, Leota Street, Witch Hazel Road and Mt. Sima Road.
The City is also distributing Kid Alert signs that can be placed in residential areas to remind drivers to slow down and drive safely.
These initiatives are in addition to the closure of the south end of Eugene Avenue to vehicle traffic to help prevent shortcutting.
The City values input from residents about traffic calming initiatives. Residents can request traffic calming measures in their neighbourhood by using our new interactive request tool. View a map of Whitehorse to see where measures are in place and which streets are eligible for consideration. Requests received by September 30 will be considered for the 2027 construction season.
