Waste Services

All waste generated in Whitehorse is handled at the City’s Waste Management Facility (WMF).

We accept the following waste at the WMF:

  • Household garbage and organic waste
  • Large appliances and bulky items such as furniture
  • Tires
  • Clean wood and brush
  • Concrete, metals, and construction waste
  • Household hazardous waste

Recyclable packaging and paper products (PPP) are not accepted at the WMF.

  • Residential recycling is managed by Circular Materials, a non-profit producer responsibility organization operating under Yukon’s Extended Producer Responsibility Regulation (EPR). For more information on residential recycling visit circularmaterials.ca/whitehorse.
  • Commercial recycling is accepted at Raven ReCentre. Visit ravenrecentre.org for more information.

Curbside collection is provided to all eligible premises, including single-family homes & multi-residences (4 units or less).
Multi-units & commercial businesses
Multi-units & commercial businesses
Multi-unit residences (5 units or more) and commercial businesses are required to handle their waste using commercial services or by self-hauling.
Country residential
Country residential
People living in country residential do not pay utility fees and are required to handle their waste using commercial services or by self-hauling.
