CityOpenWiFi
What is CityOpenWiFi?
CityOpenWiFi is a free public wireless internet service provided by the City of Whitehorse to support residents, visitors, and community members while accessing City facilities and public spaces. It is intended for casual, short-term use such as browsing the web, checking email, and accessing online services.
CityOpenWiFi is offered as a convenience, not as a guaranteed or secure internet service. Think of it as a public utility, like a bench or a sidewalk, but for bits and bytes.
Where is CityOpenWiFi available?
CityOpenWiFi is currently available at the following City locations:
- Whitehorse Operations Building
- City Hall
- Public Safety Building
- Frank Slim Building at Shipyards Park
- Linda Rapp Landing at Robert Service Campground
- Canada Games Centre
- Takhini Arena
- Mount McIntyre Recreation Centre
Availability, coverage, and performance may vary by location and demand.
Terms of Use (summary)
By connecting to CityOpenWiFi, you agree to the following:
- You are of legal age or have permission from a parent or legal guardian
- You will use the service only for lawful purposes
- You will not attempt to bypass security controls, disrupt the network, or access systems you are not authorized to use
- You accept full responsibility for your activity while connected
This is a public network. The City does not guarantee privacy, security, speed, or availability. The service is provided “as is” and may be limited, monitored, interrupted, or discontinued at any time.
The City is not responsible for loss of data, device damage, or any issues arising from the use of CityOpenWiFi.
Use this service wisely
Avoid accessing sensitive or confidential information. If it is something you wouldn’t shout across a lobby, it probably shouldn’t be done on public Wi-Fi.
