Paratransit Services
The Paratransit (Handy Bus) service is jointly funded by the City and the Government of Yukon. It offers safe and secure transportation to persons who, for a variety of reasons, have difficulty using regular transit service.
Paratransit (Handy Bus) is available to provide transportation on both a scheduled and casual need basis. The Handy Bus Policy adopted by City Council on Paratransit (Handy Bus) service governs the use of the system. Click here for an application form.
Our entire fleet of conventional buses are fully-accessible low-floor buses.
Paratransit (Handy Bus) operates seven days a week. The hours of service may change subject to available resources and demonstrated demand.
Monday to Friday: 6:35 a.m. to 10 p.m. (matches conventional service hours)
Saturday and Sunday: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Weekend service is provided only to clients who have made bookings prior to 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
Cash Fare: $3
Ticket Strips: 10 tickets for $12
Monthly Pass: $33
To become a Handy Bus client, please review the Handy Bus Policy and fill out an application form. Forms can be downloaded and printed or picked up at City Hall, 2121 Second Avenue, or the Whitehorse Transit office, 187 Range Road.
Please note that part of the application form must be completed by a medical provider. Completed forms can be faxed to 867-668-8653 or dropped off at City Hall or the Whitehorse Transit office. Applicants will be notified if they are approved within 15 business days. Once approved, clients will be provided with instructions on how to book the Handy Bus.
